Targeting African-American males in grades 9 - 12, the Alpha Achievers is an education program of the Howard County, Maryland Chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. First started in Oakland Mills High School, it fosters a positive learning environment in order to facilitate students’ pursuit of excellence by attaining, maintaining and exceeding a 3.0 grade point average.
In existence since 1997, the program also seeks to promote character growth, develop leadership skills, critical thinking and encourage its members to become full citizens of the school and the community
